What Faith-Based Coaching Actually Looks Like | The Fruit From 100 Hours of Christian Coaching with Amy Littleson McNitt

ROI of faith based Christian coaching

A content creator's real story of trading striving for trust — and what coaching with God at the center actually looks like.

If you're a driven woman who leads well and delivers on her goals, you've probably wondered it too: Is coaching actually worth the time and the money? You're already capable. You're already doing the work.

Maybe you're wondering...

  • Would investing in support be admitting you can't figure it out on your own?

  • Do you really need another thing to add to your plate?

(Pause to read this post on Why Christian Coaching Is Worth It!)

Maybe you've thought the same, but still have a tug to try it!

Because you know you're made for more.

So instead of talking about coaching, I want you to hear from someone who's actually lived it and experienced the fruits that follow.

My guest is Amy Littleson McNitt, a lifestyle and fashion creator I've had the honor of coaching since 2019. In that time we've walked through multiple moves, launching her business full time, her engagement and preparing for marriage with her college sweetheart Johnny, and her transition into motherhood to name a few highlights. This post pulls back the curtain on what faith-based coaching really looks like over the long haul — and what changes when you stop prioritize growth with God at the center.

Why Say Yes to Something New?

Coaching was completely new territory for Amy when she started — as it is for many women. And that's exactly the point worth naming: you may be taking a leap of faith from the very beginning... and that's a beautiful thing.

One distinction that's helpful to understand are the differences between therapy and coaching. Therapy tends to look back, healing what's already happened. Coaching, however, focuses on looking forward — it takes where you are right now and helps you build toward where God is calling you, with motivation and accountability along the way. Both are beautiful tools and often work wonderfully together.

At the heart of it, the goal of coaching is to get you from where you are to where God wants you to be (so special!).

A question to sit with: What's one goal you keep circling back to that you'd move on faster if you weren't carrying it alone?

(You can read more about Amy's initial year with Grace Space Christian Coaching in this throwback post on her blog.)

Rest Is Counterintuitively Productive

Here's one of my favorite things Amy has learned over the years, that's countercultural (but as the Bible says, His ways are greater than our own) to say the least... pausing is productive.

Some of Amy's best business ideas didn't come in front of the computer — they were revealed in moments of rest. Like Amy, you likely feel the most recharged, motivated, and creative after you've actually stopped to rest. For the high-capacity woman who fears that slowing down means everything will fall apart, that's a truth worth underlining. Rest isn't the reward you earn after doing the work. Rest is often where the best work begins.

A question to sit with: What gift might God be waiting to give you in the momentums of pausing with Him?

God Is Obvious — and He Has a Sense of Humor

When I asked Amy about the common thread in how God moves in her life, her answer was simple and joyful: He's so obvious, and He also has a sense of humor.

He works so clearly in her life that her only real job is to keep her eyes open to all He's doing. I love that so much, because it reframes the spiritual life from striving to noticing. So often we're straining to hear God in the big, dramatic moments and miss Him in the ordinary, sometimes even comical, ways He's already showing up. The invitation isn't to work harder to get His attention. It's to pay closer attention to how present He already is.

A Vision Board Tip That Actually Works

Word of the year, vision boards, goal setting — these are coaching sessions Amy and I both love, and she's picked up a hot tip over the years that makes all the difference.

Get specific. Don't just fill your vision board with abstract, pretty Pinterest images. Find intentional images of the actual goals you want to achieve. When your vision is concrete instead of vaguely aspirational, it stops being decoration and starts giving direction. It gives your faith something tangible to pray over and your actions something clear to move toward.

What Motherhood Is Teaching Amy

Amy stepped into motherhood recently, and I asked what God has been teaching her through it. Her answer was tender and true: to love so much deeper, and to have more compassion.

There's something about motherhood that stretches your capacity for love and softens your heart toward others in a way nothing else quite does. It's a beautiful picture of how God grows us through making us more like Him.

What Coaching With GSCC Actually Looks Like

One question prospective clients always ask is how coaching is structured. Should you expect business advice or mindset coaching? Here's how Amy described it, and I think it captures the heart of our work together perfectly.

"Alexandra meets you wherever you are. Before each call, you set the topic through a pre-form you fill out, and we build the session around what you want to focus on across an hour of coaching. Sometimes that's a wide-open brainstorm; other times it's getting tactical and mapping measurable goals. It's not a rigid formula — it's faith and strategy, tailored to the season you're in."

And who is this Christian coaching of experience actually for?

Amy shares that, "it's for anyone with a goal in mind who's looking for help, motivation, and accountability to achieve it."

Amy's story is a picture of the core shift I want for every woman I serve: from striving on your own to trusting God as you grow. You don't have to choose between ambition and faith, between tactical strategy and deep dependence on Him. When you bring the two together — and let yourself be supported instead of carrying it all alone — you step into calm confidence, clearer decisions, and growth that doesn't cost you your peace.
