Is Coaching Just One More Thing to Do? What Christian Coaching Actually Is + Why It's Worth It

If you're already overwhelmed, the last thing you may think you need is one more thing on your calendar.
Another appointment.
Another commitment.
Another person asking you what you're going to do next.
And if you've never experienced coaching before, you might assume that's exactly what coaching is.
I realize I've probably done some of you a disservice in how I've communicated what happens inside Grace Space Christian Coaching.
I've talked about leaving coaching sessions with action steps, and while that's certainly part of the experience, I don't want you to misunderstand the bigger picture:
Christian coaching isn't about adding more to your plate. It's about helping you discern what actually belongs on your plate—and giving you the clarity and confidence to act on it.
What If Christian Coaching Actually Simplified Your Life?
I work with many women who are already carrying a lot.
Some are entrepreneurs building businesses.
Some are leaders navigating significant responsibilities.
Some are mothers in the thick of raising little ones.
And some are doing all three.
In fact, a significant portion of my current clients are entering motherhood or raising babies and young children. I understand that season personally. I welcomed three daughters in less than three years (an answered prayer, thank you Jesus!), and they're still little... currently five and under.
Motherhood has been one of my very favorite gifts from God—and also one of the most refining adjustments I've experienced.
There are absolutely seasons when you're in literal survival mode.
You're physically tired.
Emotionally depleted.
Spiritually stretched.
Your pockets of time are tiny.
And sometimes, adding something new genuinely isn't the right decision.
But I've also found that when you feel a persistent tug toward support, there's often a reason.
Because the right support doesn't necessarily make your life busier.
It can help make your life spacious.
That's the distinction I want you to understand.
The Difference Between Doing More and Doing What Matters
Imagine you're standing in the middle of your life with 447 browser tabs open.
Every tab feels important.
Your business needs attention.
Your family needs you.
Someone needs an answer.
There are emails.
Ideas.
Goals.
People you're comparing yourself to.
Things you think you should be doing.
And somewhere underneath all of it is the quiet question:
"God, what am I actually supposed to focus on?"
That's where coaching comes in.
We aren't simply trying to make you better at juggling those 447 tabs.
We're working towards confidently knowing which ones to close and which ones to pour into.
Faith-based coaching gives you a filter.
Instead of asking:
"How can I get everything done?"
we start asking:
"God, what matters most right now?"
And then:
"What would You have me do about it?"
That's a very different way to operate.
Coaching Is a Filter, Not Another Layer
At Grace Space Christian Coaching, we use our signature Growth Without Burnout framework to help women:
1. Build on Biblical Belief
We identify the beliefs underneath the way you're thinking and operating and bring them back into alignment with what God says is true.
2. Transform Your Thoughts
We uncover thought patterns that are creating overwhelm, fear, comparison, perfectionism, or all-or-nothing thinking—and learn to respond differently.
3. Shift From Striving to Spirit-Led Strategy
Instead of constantly asking, "What should I be doing?" we create space to discern God's direction and then take intentional action.
That's the heart of this work.
Discernment drives the doing.
Why Pausing Can Actually Be Productive
One of the biggest lessons I've personally learned is that pausing is productive.
Some of the biggest decisions and breakthroughs in my own life happened when I stopped long enough to create space to hear from God.
Those pauses led to decisions like moving states, beginning my coaching certification, leaving corporate, and making changes that ultimately contributed to tripling the number of clients served through Grace Space Christian Coaching.
The breakthrough wasn't simply having an insight.
It was:
1. Creating space to lay everything out and make sense of it.
2. Taking what I learned and acting in alignment with it.
Because insights put into action create momentum.
You can have an incredible aha moment and still remain stuck if you don't do anything with it.
James 1:22 reminds believers to be doers of the word, not hearers only.
Clarity comes with action.
Christian Coaching Isn't Therapy—and It's Not Just Advice
Coaching is different from talk therapy, although both can be valuable forms of support for different needs.
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented.
We're not simply talking about what's happening.
We're asking:
What is happening?
What is God showing you?
What needs to change?
What is your next faithful step?
It's the difference between constantly playing whack-a-mole with whatever feels urgent and learning to fix your gaze on what actually matters.
The goal isn't to leave a session with a longer to-do list.
The goal is to leave with greater clarity about your best yes.
Think of Me Like Your Coach
Essentially, I think of you as an elite athlete and I am your coach.
You (the athlete) are already quite capable.
You are talented.
You're not afraid of commitment and discipline, because the growth is worth it.
But you don't have the same perspective on yourself that someone outside your situation can provide.
A coach sees what you can't.
They ask the question you didn't think to ask.
They help you identify the pattern you couldn't see.
They challenge you when you're playing smaller than you're capable of.
And they help you turn potential into intentional action.
That's what the women who partner with GSCC experience.
One client, Jess, who worked with me previously from 2020–2022 and returned in 2026, recently sent me this note:
“It’s always so helpful to meet with you—I am consistently amazed at the clarity and awareness that our session brings for me! Thank you for using your gifts to help others, like myself, ‘see’ things with greater focus by asking perfectly guided questions.”
That is the heart of coaching.
Eyes to see as you seek Him.
And intentional movement to match.
Who Is Christian Coaching For?
The average Grace Space client is deeply committed to growth.
She is passionate about becoming the woman God created her to be.
She's accomplished.
She's capable.
She's often the person everyone else relies on.
And yet she knows something needs to shift.
Many of my clients decide to partner together for years—not because they're incapable of figuring it out on their own, but because they recognize the value of having a trusted partner who understands them and helps them continue growing with more speed and focus than they'd have solo.
I've had the privilege of coaching women for five, six, and even eight years.
That long-term relationship matters.
Because transformation isn't about fixing yourself in a few months.
It's about learning how to walk differently.
To discern differently.
To think differently.
To make decisions differently.
To operate from truth instead of fear.
To move from striving to Spirit-led strategy.
What If the "One More Thing" Is Actually the Thing That Helps You Do Less?
Maybe you've been hesitant to invest in coaching because you're thinking:
"I don't have time."
"I already have too much on my plate."
"I need to get everything else figured out first."
"I can't commit unless I can give it 100%."
I understand.
But I want you to consider a different question:
What if coaching gave you the clarity to determine what you can remove?
What if it helped you know:
What to stop doing
What to say yes to
What deserves your energy
What doesn't
What God is actually calling you toward
What fear has been keeping you from doing
What your next faithful step is
That isn't adding noise.
That's creating clarity.
Six Months From Now, You'll Still Be Somewhere
Here's the question I want you to sit with:
Six months from now, what will be different?
You can spend the next six months continuing to figure it out alone.
Or you can spend those six months building momentum, increasing confidence, becoming more visible, making aligned decisions, and moving toward the vision God has placed on your heart.
The difference may be one decision.
And maybe you don't need to do everything.
Maybe you simply need to become more intentional about the right thing.
Be Still to Hear. Have Faith to Do.
At Grace Space Christian Coaching, I want you to become increasingly skilled at discerning God's voice and walking in confidence and clarity.
Galatians 5:16 tells us to walk by the Spirit rather than the flesh.
That's the heart of GSCC:
Making room for the Holy Spirit to lead.
So here's your quick coaching corner:
Ask yourself:
1. What's most important, God?
2. What would You have me do about it?
Then be willing to act on what you hear.
Because your next step doesn't have to be driven by pressure.
It can be driven by discernment.
And your action doesn't have to come from striving.
It can come from God's strength.
