What To Do When You're Fueled By Fear Instead of Faith

White letter tiles on a textured brown surface spell out "FAITH OVER FEAR" in bold black letters. The mood is inspirational.

Are you fueled by faith or by fear?

It's a simple question, but the answer reveals everything about how you're operating in your life and business.

Your days are full. You're doing a lot. But deep down, you're hesitant about whether you're focused on the right things. Doubt creeps in far too often.

And quite frankly, if someone read a transcript of your internal thoughts, you'd be embarrassed. Your mental hygiene is not great these days.

I get you. I was you.

And it doesn't have to look that way.

It's time to operate with conviction, confidence, and a clear plan that genuinely feels like a GET to instead of a have to.

What's Your Operating System?

When you sit down to approach a big goal, how do you typically feel?

Are you drained before you even begin? Defeated? Overwhelmed? Captivated by comparison?

When I was beginning my coaching business, I would do a lot of "busy" work. I would research, brainstorm, putz around, but I wasn't taking as much revenue-generating action as needed.

I'll never forget when I read that perfectionism is a form of procrastination.

Let that sink in.

So think about it: What is the biggest fear or limiting belief that hijacks a healthy mindset when you set out to do something big?

Maybe it's "Why do it if she already is?" Or, "I'll never measure up."

If you allow that thought to take center stage... what are the implications?

You are a daughter of Christ. As a believer, you have a direct connection to the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Tap into that!

Partnering with Fear or Faith?

A Bible study mentor of mine once asked: Are you partnering with lies or truth?

Are you partnering with fear or faith?

This question could change everything.

When you're fueled by fear, you:

  • Look left and right constantly, using others as your measuring stick

  • Get stuck in perfectionism and procrastination

  • Feel drained and defeated before you even begin

  • Operate from a place of lack instead of abundance

When you're fueled by faith, you:

  • Stay connected to God as your source

  • Take action even without a perfect plan

  • Show up as the spiritually healthy version of yourself

  • Create from a place of abundance and trust

Biblical Truth to Anchor You

2 Timothy 1:7 says God does not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Philippians 4:13 reminds us: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

John 15 says: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

This is so much of what faith-based coaching is all about—helping women grow in God in a Christ-centered way. There is no development tool quite like it.

How Would the Most Spiritually Healthy Version of You Show Up?

Ask yourself: How would the most spiritually healthy version of me show up in the hard?

Not the version fueled by comparison. Not the version driven by perfectionism.

The version connected to God as her source. The version fueled by the Father.

Simple Strategy: Be Fueled by the Father

Here's a practical tip that has changed everything for me:

Visualize being connected with God as you go. He is your source.

Think of a phrase — a biblical, scripture-based affirmation of truth.

Say that (even in the mirror!) before you set out on whatever hard thing you're called to do today.

I totally understand that it can feel like flying in the fog at times. But what if you began thinking of walking with the Lord as accessing your navigation app?

This is your ultimate refined operating system (your app refresh, if you will).

And don't forget: Clarity comes with action.

What is your next best step? Have faith as you walk forward.

Not having an exact fully developed plan isn't an excuse to stay stuck.

Remember: It's Not About Perfection

We are not after perfection. We are after being guided by God.

The goal is to fall more in love with God and know Him intimately, to share Him with others.

Let that define your success, instead of the pursuit of perfection.

Success is not the pursuit of perfection. Success is knowing and loving God, and sharing Him with others.

That is what will provide you with a peace that surpasses all understanding.

And remember, He will use ALL things for His good and glory.

Your Call to Action

This is your call to rise up and GO live the life that God has placed you here for, at this exact time.

Stop being driven by doubt. Start being led by the Lord.

Stop being captivated by comparison. Start being fueled by the Father.

Stop partnering with fear. Start partnering with faith.

Ask yourself:

  • What's my operating system? Am I fueled by faith or by fear?

  • Am I captivated by comparison?

  • Are you partnering with fear or faith?

  • What would it look like to be fueled by the Father?

What's fueling your operating system today: faith or fear? I'd love to hear in the comments!
