You aren't afraid of working hard.
A to-do list genuinely sparks joy.
You find immense satisfaction in creating, doing, and seeing your biggest dreams come to life.
But at what cost?
Maybe you're seeing growth, but is it created out of competition, comparison, or insecurity?
Maybe you're making progress, yet is it driven by what you want to do or by what you see the people around you doing?
Or maybe you're so obsessed with maximizing every minute that you haven't left space for God to guide you.
It's time to ask: What would it look like to honor God in your work?
What It Means to Honor God in Your Work
1 Corinthians 10:31 says: "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
So if you were to work unto the Lord, what better place to start than by following Him?
It might feel wildly uncomfortable at first. And if your relationship with Jesus isn't as strong as you might like it to be, it's unsurprising that you might be hesitating to trust or be tempted to take the lead yourself.
The Sovereign Self
One of the key concepts to understand is the sovereign self—the way in which our culture operates and equates self-sufficiency with success.
But sovereignty is a quality of God. It means having supreme authority, power, and control—something we were never meant to have. That's God's to carry.
If you're feeling like you should be even more dependent on God than you currently are, check out our episode "You're Not Supposed to Have All the Answers: Trusting God vs. Self-Sufficiency" that dives deeper into this concept and flips that notion upside down.
The Cost of Success
A quote that has captivated attention and will fire you up is this:
"Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter." - Pastor Francis Chan
Powerful right? And on point as we're going to be talking about how to create goals based on God's purpose for your life, so that your efforts are in alignment with His will.
Conviction vs. Condemnation
If you're feeling pricked about wanting to trust God but having a hard time hearing Him or trusting Him, remember the difference between conviction and condemnation.
Conviction comes from Christ. It's from God. It's a healthy feeling of, "I can be operating differently here, and it would probably be a good and healthy thing for me to do."
Condemnation—guilt, shame, a feeling of wanting to hide—that's from the enemy. That's not from the Lord.
Galatians 5:1 says: "For freedom Christ has set us free."
Jesus loves you and adores you, and He wants to draw you in.
Surrender Over Striving
What if you left room for God to move? Or even better yet, allowed Him to lead you?
How might your faith grow? How might your life look different when you operate from surrender instead of striving?
Isaiah 55:8-9 says: "His ways are higher and better than our own."
It is good news that we are not leading. It is a joy and privilege to surrender and let the God of the universe lead you.
The Great Command & Great Commission
As believers, our biggest call is the great command and the great commission. The great command is to love God, and the great commission is about loving others.
Honoring God looks like loving Him by abiding in Him, surrendering to Him, and simply being with Him in His presence.
He loves you and adores you. He is jealous for you!
Growth Without Burnout
One of your core goals as you work towards God-centered growth is to have it be sustainable.
Think about perseverance and endurance to complete your race, to get to the end of your days and hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
There have been years where on paper it looks pretty epic and amazing, but at the end of it, we're wiped. But what if you get to the end of your year energized?
That's what our signature Growth Without Burnout coaching program is all about.
The Three Phases of God-Centered Growth:
1. Building Biblical Belief - Getting grounded in God for a faith-fueled focus
2. Transforming Your Thoughts - Shifting your mindset from striving to surrendering
3. Taking Aligned Action - Through Spirit-led strategy
This is what gets results.
That's why so many clients come in already doing amazing things and after working together say they're a client for life. The transformation is that powerful and can happen fast when you show up.
A Personal Story
In 2025, we celebrated tripling the number of clients served while working part time while caring for three preschool-aged kids.
And it genuinely happened with joy and ease.
Why? Because it was directed and generated by Him, not by striving and grinding.
That's the difference surrender makes.
An Activation Exercise for Today
Spend five minutes with Jesus today and ask: "Lord, what would you have me to receive today?"
Sit in hope and expectancy
Remember you are a daughter of the High King
Step into that space with that crown on your head, with that authority
Remember that prayer is less about talking and more about listening. Try flipping your prayer approach: instead of 80% talking and 20% listening, create space to hear God talk to you
Go into His throne room with confidence. He loves you and He wants to hear from you. But what if you also created a rich and sweet space to hear Him talk to you?
